I wonder why we can't use them on specail orders at all ?

I used to work at Borders -- you should be able to use coupons on special orders if it's an order for something that's normally in stock. If it's something Borders doesn't carry, they don't receive a discount when they order it, so they don't discount it for you.

I tried to print 3 times the 20% coupon; the barcode still does not show on the coupon
I wrote down the barcode numbers and used it at Borders Santana row in San Jose.
They were not accepted.

there must be something wrong on your end , i just printed 5 20% borders coupons and they all came out just fine .

even though it says single use coupon, is it possible to use multiple printouts at different times (at the same store)?

Nothing wrong with trying , depends on which borders book store you go to, sometimes it also depends on the cashier.

All they ask you to do is provide your email and phone number without the area code. So in the "worst" case, Borders will email you some advertising.

I registered under an e-mail I rarely check, because I hate deleting junk. Joke has been on me. Border's sends out GREAT coupons. So, I missed the DVD box set coupon usage as well as the 40% off book coupon. I have since called the toll-free number and had an edit done to my email addy records. Now all I can do is hope that they offer them again before my next deployment overseas. I could use them both right about now.

There is a 30% off coupon, with no minimum purchase good until the 24th (I don't know whether you have to show your borders rewards card to redeem it or not, but its part of that program, the cards are free, and they send you TONS of coupons! :)

I work at Borders, and their new policy is NO coupons on any special orders. Even if it's something they normally carry and are out of stock. Worth asking, but the store I work at (Boston) won't budge.

I've worked at Borders in LA, they're so freakin awesome, best costomer service, never paid full price for anything there. Screw Barnes & Nobles, they expect the costomers to kiss their ass or something. Hardly ever give out coupons, I don't know why everyone thinks they're so great.

Borders is now accepting coupons on Special Orders for items they normally have in stock. If there is something that the company has never carried, it may be able to be ordered, but a coupon cannot be used. Just like last time.

Borders does not do coupons on special orders because these books from from special distributors, but they can offer a discount on the special order but it is specified by the distributors. At the borders I worked at they would always write the max % discount on the special order slip.
They may give you a better discount but it depends on the store/managers/who is ring you up.
If you really want a discount on a special order just ask nicely when you order it and if possible they will write it on the slip to let the people ordering it know.
For the coupons to work you need to have a Borders Rewards account, if the account number is not put in to the computer the coupon will not work.

Hi all. I've been a Borders employee for 10 plus years, and I wanted to give you the scoop on the coupons and the Rewards program. The coupons and discounts do not stack, i.e. you can't combine a 30% and 20% to get 50% off. When obtaining a Borders Rewards card you do not have to sign up with an email address to receive the coupon discount, but you will not accumulate the Rewards points for your purchase. Read the coupon, and it will tell you what you can and can't use it on, e.g. Special Orders that are not store stock, or electronics. Ok, every store is different, even though there are specific rules some stores are strict while others are lenient. We are likely to be forgiving if you treat the cashier with respect, and not be rude. Also, be prepared. Have your card, and coupon on hand. We hate the "I don't have my card with me", or " do you have a coupon I could use?" At my store we are not allowed to give coupons away at the register, but if you have your card, and friendly then we have been known to be kind in return. Last thing, don't get angry at us because we won't let you use four 40% coupons. Rules are rules, and we are only doing our jobs mandated by Borders policy.

Its the stores that decide when theres new coupons, i post their coupons on this site the same day i get their email.. you have to be patient....Borders comes out with new coupons two or three days after they expire... Anna

In case anyone is interested, I went to my local Borders Seattle's Best Cafe and received a coffee card. Just ask for one, it's free. For every seven beverages I purchase, I get the 8th one for free. The offer expires on 9/1/09.

I was also informed by the barista that the cafe has an ongoing special during the summer.

Great coupons for this week (June 15). I can really tell the recession is hurting a lot of retail stores, including Borders. I was in at my local Borders (Palo Alto, CA) the other day and their staff was handing out the all-in-one coupons with free pastry samples from the cafe.
